The Prosecutor's Office is responsible for assisting individuals who apply for child support services by establishing and enforcing child support orders under the Indiana Code and Title IV-D of the Social Security Act.
Required Activities
The Child Support Division of the Miami County Prosecutor's Office is required to work with the Indiana State Child Support Bureau to do a number of things to assist in getting child support to families. These things include:
- Locating non-custodial parents
- Establishing paternity
- Establishing child support orders
- Enforcing payment of child support
The Child Support Division of the Miami County Prosecutor's Office also works with the Indiana State Child Support Bureau to: establish medical support orders, disburse child support payments, and review child support orders to insure they conform to the Indiana Child Support Rules.
The Child Support Division also assist other States, Territories, and Tribal Authorities with child support matters.
