The center activates all tornado sirens when a tornado warning for Miami County is received from the National Weather Service through the Indiana Data and Communications System (IDACS). This is done by activating a tone control through the County Fire radio frequency.

The center also has the capability of breaking into the Comcast cable system if need be, however the tornado warnings given on the cable are generated by an automated system connected to the National Weather Service radio system.
