District
Minutes for the August 20, 2007 Meeting
Attendance: Greg Deeds, Craig Boyer, Shirley Mull, Gary Hawley, Lance Gallahan,
David Grund, John Haines, Samantha Ward. Absent: Jim Walker and Dale Wortinger.
At 8:12 A.M. the meeting was called to order by Greg Deeds.
The minutes of the July 16, 2007 meeting were read. Gary Hawley motioned to
approve the minutes as is; Shirley Mull seconded, motion passed.
The August 2007 financial statement was presented. Chesapeake Electronics had 40
TV’s in the collection, and this made their bill higher than usual. PCI bill was
for two months. WARU had an extra $99.00 on their bill for the broadcast at the
4-H fair. There were 11 refund checks in the amount of $105.00 each issued to
property owners who were charged $125.00 instead of the normal $20.00 on the tax
bills last year. Shirley Mull motioned to approve the financial report, Lance
Gallahan seconded, motion passed.
The Macy town board called out office claiming someone backed into their storage
building and they thought it was The Helping Hand’s trailer. John and Ed went to
the building to view the damage and found that the area in question was
significantly lower than the height of his trailer. The town board would still
like us to pay for the damage, as they believe that if it wasn’t caused by our
contractor, it was caused by someone leaving items at the recycling drop-off
site. Lance Gallahan motioned to have John contact the Macy town board and have
them get a repair estimate for review by the board. Craig Boyer seconded, motion
passed.
August 20, 2007 was the scheduled and advertised 2008 Solid Waste District
public hearing. No patrons were in attendance for comment.
R&B Contractor submitted a letter for contract extension for one year with no
changes. Gary Hawley motioned to accept the extension and have the board
chairman (Greg Deeds) sign the document, Craig Boyer seconded, motion passed.
Noted to the board that Beautification Day is this Saturday August 25. Our
office is getting things finalized for the day.
Old business-the fluorescent bulbs brought in by the Miami Correctional Facility
are still at the HHW building. Gary Hawley will contact the Prison Warden for a
meeting to address the handling of HHW.
Greg Deeds mentioned that North Miami Middle/High School has a new yearbook
class this year. He will have them contact us for placing an ad.
There was some discussion about adding a drop off building at North Miami
Elementary School. The board would need a formal request from the Superintendent
to put in another site on school property.
Craig Boyer motioned to adjourn 8:54 AM, Shirley Mull seconded, motion passed.
Respectfully submitted,
