Victim's Remembrance Tree Planting Ceremony

National Crime Victim's Rights Week was held from April 22 to 28 this year  During this week, we celebrate our nation's progress for the victims of crime and pledge to serve "every victim, every time'.

On Friday, April 27, we planted a tree as a way of remembering the victims of crimes both past and present.  It is our intention that as the tree grows, it will become a continuing symbol of the community's commitment to crime victims.

The roots of the tree symbolize the strong foundation of support that exists now for victims.

The trunk serves to represent the strength that victims must show.

The branches represent the many different areas that a victim can reach out to; such as law enforcement, the court system, the mental health system, churches, family, friends, and co-workers.

The leaves symbolize vitality and the ability of victims to live on and grow.

We hope that this tree will indeed be a constant reminder to all of us that help victims to continue to fight for "every victim, every time".
