Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Each year during the month of October the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence joins with other state coalitions and domestic violence programs across the country to commemorate the lives of victims of domestic violence and to raise awareness about the issue of domestic violence. Our goal is to educate the public about the effects of domestic violence on families and to find ways in which we can all work together to promote safety and eliminate domestic violence in our communities.

The Domestic Violence Coalition of Miami County will be conducting a candlelight vigil on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the West entrance of the Miami County Courthouse.

A 5K Walk is also being presented on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. meeting at the Old Fire House.

In honor of those who have lost their lives due to family violence, purple ribbons will be available to wear from all Coalition Supporters.

Thank you for your support for our work to make every home a safe home.
