About the Public Health
Coordinator
The Public Health Preparedness Coordinator job came about
after the September 11 attack on
the World Trade Center. The position is funded through the Center for Disease
Control, and Indiana State Dept of Health manages the grant.
The responsibilities of the Public
Health Preparedness Coordinator include seeking grants to help fund the
department, and to coordinate volunteers during an emergency.
The grant is open to each County to
assist in preparedness in the event of a disaster whether that is manmade or a
natural occurrence. The Public Health Preparedness Coordinator plans for “All
Hazards” including terrorism.
Now the health department is planning
for a possible influenza pandemic and part of the planning is to prepare the
public for such a disaster. See the links for further information.
