Antioch Publishing Recalls Bookmarks and Journals Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in
cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of
the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled
products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Bookmarks and Journals

Units: About 150,000

Importer: Antioch Publishing, of Yellow Springs, Ohio

Hazard: Paint on the spiral metal bindings of the journals, clip of the bookmarks and the clear coating on the marquis bookmarks and bracelets
contain excessive levels of lead, which violates the federal lead paint ban.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves various designs of bookmarks and journals
from Antioch Publishing's Signature Collection. The character-themed bookmarks and journals include the following designs:

Sold at: Book, card and gift stores nationwide from March 2005 through
October 2007 for between $4 and $14.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the bookmarks and journals away from children and contact Antioch Publishing for a refund.
