Deteriorating
Paint
.JPG)
The picture on this page is of a
gnawed windowsill that contains lead. The child living in this home
suffers from Pica and gnawed through the paint down to bare wood.
Pica is an appetite for items that
are not nutritive, such as paint, paper, and chalk. It can also be
manifested as an abnormal craving for food ingredients or other things that may
be considered foods, like raw potatoes and flour.
Pica is most common in pregnant women
and young children.
The danger with eating paint and
other lead containing substances is that the child could suffer drain damage and
much more from lead poisoning.
