County Council Meeting Minutes

Council President Ralph Duckwall called the meeting to order.
Council President Duckwall led those in attendance in prayer and the reciting of
the pledge to the flag.
COMMUNCIATIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
None
MINUTES
Councilman Wiles moved to approve the July minutes. The motion was 2nd by
Councilman Hunt and passed 6-1 (Kendall).
APPROPRIATIONS OR TRANSFERS
RIVERSIDE TRAVEL TRAILERS
Council President Duckwall read the Ordinance. Councilwoman Mull moved to
consider on same night as introduced. Councilman Wiles 2nd the motion.
Councilman Hunt asked if “employers” in the second paragraph should be changed
to “employees”. Councilman Kendall asked what the repercussions were for not
complying. The repercussion would be that they would not receive the money for
that time period. Motion passed 6-1 (Donaldson). This item will have to come
back to the table next month due to the vote not being unanimous.
SHERIFF
Sheriff Ken Roland came before the Council explaining that the Sheriff Merit
Board and Pension Committee is requesting a change of Trustee for the Pension
Plan. Councilman McAuliffe made a motion to allow and Councilwoman Mull 2nd the
motion. The motion 6-1 abstain (Kendall)
The Sheriff also explained that the Legislation passed that the County has to
furnish new body armor but does not take effect until January 2010. He ordered
18 for this year and has received a grant for $4,950 leaving a balance of $5,284
which he will pay out of the firearms fund.

PUBLIC COMMENT
Ken de la Bastide, Reporter for the Kokomo Tribune, told the Council he and his
father visited the Circus this year and wanted to commend Peru City and Miami
County. They had a very good time and enjoyed all the festivities.
A motion to adjourn was made by Councilperson Mull. The motion was 2nd by
Councilman McAuliffe and passed 7-0.
