PUBLIC COMMENT
Mr. John Alfrey addressed the Council wanting to know how money they think they need to make up the shortfall and how much money they will make off of this. He was told by the Council that the 1% was property tax replacement and the .25 Public Safety portion was the only part bringing in revenue. Mr. Alfrey said the taxpayers will make their discussion at election time.

Mr. Dick Lancaster asked the Council if they believed that with the state of the County we can tax our way out. He doesn’t mind paying his fair share but he doesn’t understand how we can in good conscience spend 20 million for a jail and an additional $400,000.00 for staff.

Councilman Hunt said he is not happy about having to build a jail but he applauds the work the Board of Commissioner did on the Jail project. Council President Duckwall concurs.

Mr. Wayne Bunker wanted to know why we went from covering a 1.4 million dollar shortfall to 3x that. The Council explained that Weatherwax did not project past next year. Councilman Click said they had asked the State to wait 2 year to see how everything ended up but the State would not do that.

Councilman Click made a motion to adjourn and Councilman Hunt 2nd the motion. Motion passed 7-0.

Adjourned

Respectfully Submitted,

Jane Lilley
Chief Deputy Auditor
