JULY 18, 2006
MIAMI COUNTY FAIR GROUNDS
President Stephenson called the monthly meeting of the Miami County Council to
order.
All recited the pledge to our flag.
It is noted that Councilman Cook is absent.
MINUTES
A motion was made by Councilman York to approve the minutes as presented. The
motion was 2nd by Councilman Robertson. The motion passed 6-0.
REASSESSMENT ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION
A request was made by Nancy Gates to appropriate $40,000 to cover the legal
expenses for our appeal of the Estates At Eagles Pointe tax issue.
There was a concern over the expense outweighing the gain in a lawsuit. A motion
was made by Councilperson Mull to approve. The motion was 2nd by Councilman
Click and passed 6-0.
NORTH WEST CORRIDOR APPROPRIATION REQUEST
Auditor Brenda Weaver explained that in budgeting for our payment for this
project we fell short this year.
A motion to approve was made by Councilman York. The motion was 2nd by
Councilman Robertson and passed 6-0.
HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TRANSFER REQUEST
Sam Waltz requested a transfer from the project line for County Road 100 West-
1400 North to 1600 to the line item for dust control.
A motion to approve was made by Councilman York. The motion was 2nd by
Councilman Click and passed 6-0.
ANIMAL CONTROL TRANSFER
Commissioner Hawley explained that due to losing Joe Dickerhoff and hiring a new
Animal Control Officer, the Commissioners went back to making it a contract
position. The money being transferred is from the salary line to the other
services line of the Commissioners budget.
REQUESTS FROM THE AUDIENCE
Jim York brought up the request from C.E.D.I.T. for Tourism. The request is for
$25,000 for 3 years. Mr. York requested this be on the budget for August.
REPORT ON THE HOSPITAL SALE
Council President Stephenson asked Councilman Click to report on the finance
meeting at the Hospital. Councilman Click explained that this is probably the
last meeting because all the funds are ready to be transferred. He explained
that Triad paid off around $18,000,000 of debt for the hospital. The County
still owns Blair Ridge and will market it for sale.
A MOTION TO ADJOURN WAS MADE BY councilman Click. The motion was 2nd by
Councilperson Mull and passed 6-0.
