The meeting was called to order by President Stephenson who led the group in the
Pledge of Allegiance.
It is noted Councilman Kendall is absent.
Councilman York made a motion to approve the minutes. The motion was 2nd by
Councilman Click and passed 6-0.
Councilman Robertson made a motion to re-appoint Mr. Schuckel to the Peru
Library Board. Council person Shirley Mull 2nd the motion and it passed 6-0.
ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS
The first additional was for Reassessment in the amount of $26,900.00.
Councilperson Mull made a motion to approve and Councilman Click 2nd the motion.
The motion passed 6-0.
The next additional was the Commissioners asking for $40,000.00 out of the
C.E.D.I.T. fund for the Museum roof. Commissioner Hawley explained that the
Museum was cleaning the 3rd floor when they discovered a leak. Councilman Click
made a motion to approve. Councilman York 2nd the motion and it passed 6-0.
Mexico Sewer District came before the Council to ask for $15,000.00. The
District had asked for and been approved for $15,000. They did not have any
expenses last year and did not use the money. They have expenses this year and
would like to have the money re-appropriated. A citizen from Mexico asked why
the questionnaire was more than what they had asked for last time? It was
explained that they were more expensive because of the time frame. The citizen
wanted to know if the County was going to keep the money and pay the bills or if
the money was just going to give the District the money to spend? The County
will keep the money and pay the bills as they come in. Councilman Click made a
motion to approve and Councilperson Mull 2nd the motion. The motion passed 6-0.
The next additional appropriation was for the Tobacco Settlement for the Health
Department. The State sent $21,070.17 in Tobacco Settlement money. The money
will be given to Tobacco Awareness Group. Councilman Click made a motion to
approve and Councilman Robertson 2nd the motion. The motion passed 6-0.
Commissioner Hawley informed the Council the Board of Commissioners will be
coming before them in May to ask for $90,000.00 to repair Mississinewa Road.
Alan Hunt, Miami County Highway Employee, told the Council that the road really
needs to be widened before being repaired. Some of the Council may drive out
there to look at the road.
Brian Robertson, Council member, wanted to apologize to the Council and the
public about a comment he made at the last Council meeting regarding inmates at
the Miami County Jail. He did not intend to offend anyone.
Councilwoman Mull made a motion to adjourn. The motion was 2nd by Councilman
York and passed 6-0.
