Commissioner Boyer opened the meeting. (Chairman Deeds was absent)

TAG
Richard Fullmer from the Tobacco Awareness Group came before the Board to request the Board of Commissioners to bring the smoking ordinance back to the table. Commissioner Boyer respects the request but feels all three members should be in attendance. The TAG group will be back next week.

FOOD SERVICE
Curt Bressler form US Food Service came before the Board to inquire about food service to the new jail. They provide service to the current facility and heard the Board was looking at a new service for the new facility. Commissioner Boyer told him he would have to speak to the Sheriff first and then it would come back to the Board.

REASSESSMENT
Nancy Gates, County Assessor, spoke to the Commissioners about the upcoming reassessment. She believes the State will delay the reassessment for another year but she wishes to continue working on it so as not to lose the work that has already been done. Mrs. Gates introduced Jay Morris from AdVelorum who holds the contract. He said they could continue and save money because they wouldn’t have to bring new people in later on. They would have an additional year for new construction and trending. Commissioner Faust made a motion to allow Mrs. Gates to move ahead with the reassessment process. Commissioner Boyer 2nd the motion and it passed 2-0.

CHANGE ORDER
Gary Hawley, member of the Holding Corporation, came before the Board to explain a change order the Board had a question about. Commissioner Faust made a motion to have Mr. Hawley sign change order and Commissioner Boyer 2nd the motion. Motion passed 2-0.

The Board discussed change orders with Dennis Husted. The Board would like for Mr. Husted to provide a list of the change orders to date. There was also discussion regarding an RQAW bill. The Board would like to hold this bill until satisfied with the work being done and questions regarding change orders are answered.

Commissioner Faust expressed his dislike of the bricks at the new jail. Commissioner Boyer said the weeds are really bad and need to be cut. The Board will check with the Highway to see if they could take care of that.

MEXICO RESIDENT
Brenda Hartleroad, resident of Mexico, updated the Commissioners about a neighbor’s dogs. She had to call the Sheriff’s Dept. and the deputy witnessed the pit bull climbing over the fence to her yard. She is in poor health and has her mother and grandchildren living with her. Captain Vitek will follow up on the situation and told her she needs to keep calling in when she has problems.

MINUTES
Commissioner Faust made a motion a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Boyer 2nd the motion and it passed 2-0.

CLAIMS
Commissioner Faust made a motion to approve the claims. Commissioner Boyer 2nd the motion and it passed 3-0.



IT DEPARTMENT
John Powell, IT Director, informed the Board that the recording system for the jail failed at 4:00 a.m. He was able to transfer information to a clip so the transcriptionist could access it. Commissioner Faust moved to allow new system out of Cum Courthouse and Commissioner Boyer 2nd the motion. Motion passed 2-0

HIGHWAY
Ken Einselen, Highway Engineer, received paperwork authorizing appraisal and purchase of land to be signed by the Board. Commissioner Faust made a motion to sign the document and Commissioner Boyer 2nd the motion. Motion passed 2-0.

Mr. Einselen and the Board also discussed a drainage problem at Meridian and 950S. Mr. Einselen suggested the resident put in a swell and wait for 1 year (if you don’t wait a year it invites erosion).

Commissioner Faust made a motion to adjourn and Commissioner Boyer 2nd the motion. Motion passed 2-0.
