Commissioner Hawley called the meeting of the Board to order.
JUDGES/JUVENILE DOC/3RD COURT
The Commissioners met with Judge Sparh, Judge Banina, and David Grund, candidate
for Superior Court Judge. There was discussion on the difference between
Juvenile DOC and Juvenile Secured Detention. Previously Miami County had a
larger cost for the DOC than the Secured. In the last year the cost has shifted
to the Secured instead of DOC.
Miami County has been granted a 3rd Court and there were discussions as to where
to put the Courtroom, Judges Chamber and staff support. The Group will meet
again the 1st Monday in July at 8:00 a.m.
INNKEEPERS TAX
The Board gave David Grund information they had received for the Innkeepers tax.
There was discussion on how many board members would be needed. Mr. Grund will
create the resolution.
POTHOLES
John Rogers, Flora Addition came before the Board to tell them there are
potholes on Rose street in the addition that were missed and he would like to
have them filled.
MINUTES
Commissioner Deeds made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Boyer 2nd
the motion and it passed 3-0.
CORRESPONDENCE
Letter from IDEM on CFO in North Miami County
Letter from DNR on participation in Flood program. The will be a meeting on June
18 at 12:30.
Memo from AIC that their contract with Vonage is completed
Memo from Ken Einselen on Business 31S updates
SMOKING ORDINANCE
Gary Mock brought in a letter from a citizen regarding the Smoking ordinance. He
told the Board that he is not a spokesman for any group but he was asked to
bring in it. Several citizens inquired about the ordinance. The Commissioners
have taken the information they have gathered under advisement. At the time the
Board has an ordinance ready, there will be another Public hearing.
CHANGE ORDER
The Board received a change order for some of the Jail fixtures because some of
the fixtures were not prison type. The change order is for $3,666.00.
Commissioner Deeds made a motion to allow Commissioner Hawley to sign and the
motion was 2nd by Commissioner Boyer. The motion passed 3-0.
PERU LIBRARY BOARD
The Board will make the appointment to the Library Board on June 23rd. If anyone
is interested they will need to have their information to the Board prior to
that date.
VOLUNTARY INSURANCE
Vicki Ship came before the Board to give them information on a voluntary
insurance program. The Board thanked her.
HIGHWAY
Sam Waltz brought the Highway Annual Report for their signature. Commissioner
Deeds made a motion to allow Commissioner Hawley to sign and Commissioner Boyer
2nd the motion. The motion passed 3-0.
The 1782 that was received from the DLGF required the Highway to cut $17,369
from the Local Road and Street Fund. Mr. Waltz recommended to the Board where
the cuts are to be made. Commissioner Deeds moved to allow. Commissioner Boyer
2nd the motion and it passed 3-0.
The Board also informed Mr. Waltz of the potholes in the Flora Addition.
Commissioner Boyer made a motion to adjourn. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner
Deeds and passed 3-0.
