The weekly meeting of the Miami County Board of Commissioners was called to order by Chairman Hawley.

COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS GRANT APPLICATION
Angie Bever informed the Board that she needed signatures to apply for a one year grant in the amount of $167,000.00 for Community Corrections. A motion to sign the grant application was made by Commissioner Boyer and 2nd by Commissioner Deeds. The motion passed 3-0.

SHERIFF DEPARTMENT
Captain Vitek informed the Board that one of the Officers had hit a deer and the Sheriff’s car is in the shop for repairs.

PERU MUNICIPAL AIRPORT ISSUE
Mr. O’Vodka informed the Board that he is including them in his law suit against the City of Peru. His claim is that the County has jurisdiction over the property outside the airport and that the Airport had over stepped their legal authority committing fraud against him and other property owners.

Mr. O’Vodka said that no land owner was told of the changes in the easements and he is requesting information from the County. There are certain Ordinances that he has looked for and does not believe they exist.

After much discussion the Board will forward this information to David Grund for review.

TAX REVIEW BOARD
Nancy Gates informed the Board that she has received a letter of resignation from Fred Wouster. It is the Boards responsibility to appoint a replacement. She and Mr. Wouster asked the Board to make the appointment as soon as they can.
Mrs. Gates also informed the Board that she hired Nicole Nordman as a new employee in the County Assessors Office.

CLS BENEFITS/STEVE MOORE
Mr. Moore said that he would like to know if he could meet with the Insurance committee to discuss some wellness benefits the County pays for but is not currently taking advantage of. The meeting is on June 9, 2006 and the Board asked him to come around 9:00 a.m.

SMOKE FREE AIR
The Board received a letter of Endorsement from Spear Realty for a smoke free environment in Miami County.

IDEM
The Board received an IDEM Notice concerning Tri County Excavating. This was to receive permission to operate in Miami County

CLAIMS REVIEWED
The Board reviewed some of the claims from the Coroner. They seemed large since they were several months worth. A motion to pay the claims was made by Commissioner Boyer. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Deeds and passed 3-0.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOUSING
Wil Siders brought a tax bill for a property that was given the Habitat for Humanity and he would like the tax bill to reflect what was agreed to. He would like the charges removed until the house is constructed. A motion was made to give this to the Auditor to address. The Auditor forwarded the proper forms for filing to the County Attorney for the proper language.

HEALTH DEPARTMENT VACCINES ORDINANCES
The Board gave David Grund the documentation from the Health Department to raise the fees on different vaccines administered by the County Health Nurse.

MINUTES
A motion to accept the minutes is made by Commissioner Boyer. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Deeds and passed 3-0.

PAYROLL
A motion was made by Commissioner Boyer to allow the payment of payroll. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Hawley and passed 2-0. Commissioner Deeds was absent for this vote.

HIGHWAY ISSUES
Ken Einselen told the Board that he had reviewed the State Funded projects with David Armstrong. A motion was made by Commissioner Deeds to allow Ken Einselen to write the necessary letter and for Commissioner Hawley to sign it. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Boyer and passed 3-0.

ENGINEER INTERN
Mr. Einselen told the Board that Kim Bickel from Maconaquah is looking for an internship for students with the Miami County Engineer. A motion to support this program was made by Commissioner Boyer. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Deeds and passed 3-0.

LPA CLAIM FORM
The Board received the re-imbursment claim from BF&S. A motion to sign the claim voucher was made by Commissioner Deeds. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Boyer and passed 3-0.

HIGHWAY REDUCTIONS
Virginia Bennett told the Board she is requesting a reduction in budget to be brought before the Council. The Auditor stated she believed it needed advertised. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Deeds. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Boyer and passed 3-0.

PAYROLL FOR HIGHWAY HOURLY
The Board discussed the dates the highway department hourly would be paid. The sheet Ms. Bennett has does not reflect the highway hourly on it.

EMA 300 M’S CLASS
Mr. Peconga said he would be taking the classes on June 6, 7, 8 and that Texas A&M is doing the training.

Mr. Peconga informed the Board that he will be on vacation next week and that on June 14, 2006 Chris will be gone to a training session. On June 21-23 Chris will be at Atterbury for certification.

On June 20, 2006 there will be a table top exercise with the County Health Department.

COURT HOUSE SECURITY/ANNEX BUILDING AND SHERIFF DEPT
Mr. Peconga brought a proposal to include the Annex front door and the North door of the Jail in the purchase of the security system for the Court House. An additional bill for $6,500.00 was given to the Board. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyer to proceed. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Deeds and passed 3-0.

VERIZON CASE
Mr. Grund informed the Board that due to no action by the Plaintiff the case is dead at this point.

GIE CLAIM
A motion to pay the GIE claim was made by Commissioner Deeds. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Boyer and passed 3-0.

A motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Boyer. The motion was 2nd by Commissioner Deeds and passed 3-0.
