Notice of Assessments

The "Notice of Assessments" were mailed to taxpayers on April 11, 2007.  Remember that it is not a bill.

Using annual adjustments assessors will adjust, or "trend", property values every year to reflect market values of property.

How it works:

During every real estate sales transaction there are state-required sales disclosure forms that are completed.  Using the sales data from these forms for 2004 and 2005, we calculate how much or how little to adjust the assessed value of a property.

The amount of the adjustment is determined by how much or how little  property increased or decreased in the area.  The amount of change is then applied to the assessed values of properties of that type (residential, commercial, etc.) in the area.

After applying the annual adjustment factor, the property value is considered to be adjusted for local market conditions.

Please take a look at your total assessed value.  The assessed value should be near your market value.  An appraisal can be a guide in establishing your property value.

Taxpayers have 45 days from the date of the notice to review records in the courthouse.

If you have questions, please call or stop in.

For all townships, the County Assessor's office is located on the second floor of the courthouse in room 200.  765-472-3901 extension 220
